German MEP: Orbán should excluded from the next EC meeting
German Green MEP Daniel Freund has sent an open letter to the President of the European Council demanding that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban should not attend the European Council.
Open letter to the President of the European Council
Daniel Freund, a German Green Party member in the European Parliament, has written an open letter to the President of the European Council. In his letter, he makes a request to President Charles Michel. Freund is concerned that
Viktor Orbán will be able to attend the European Council meeting of the EU Heads of State and Government.
Freund argues that, according to Article 10 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU, only governments that are democratically accountable to their national parliaments and citizens can represent themselves in the Council.
According to the German politician, Hungary is no longer democratic.
Freund backs up his opinion with several reports. For instance, he cites reports by Freedom House and the OSCE. Freund also mentions on his Twitter page the state of war declared in Hungary on Tuesday. This means that Orbán and the Hungarian government can continue to govern by decree, writes nyugatifeny.hu.
The European Council meets on 30-31 May
The next European Council meeting will be held on 30-31 May, next week. Daniel Freund concludes his letter that it would not be advisable to invite Hungary to the next European Council.
The next European Council will discuss crucially important issues regarding the security of the European Union.
For this reason, it would not be safe if the head of state of a government that is not democratically accountable attended the meeting. The European Council will likely discuss the next package of sanctions against Russia at the meeting next week. This will also bring up the issue of the oil embargo, magyarnarancs.hu reports. Hungary has a different position on the oil embargo than most EU member states. Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had earlier asked Charles Michel not to include the oil embargo in the agenda for the time being.

Hopefully- by application, under the Laws of European Membership – Democracy functionality of a Government – the “needs” – that there are greater number member countrys who vote in favour of NO attendance / invitation – permission of Hungary/Victor Orban – than those who STILL beleive Hungary/Victor Orban – should be or remain a member of the European Union.
Major major cracks continue to EXPAND, that exhibit – display – that Hungary, under the “Styled” leadership of Victor Orban – do not wish to be part of the COMMUNITY of European Countrys.
Hungary – continues to be “veiled” under the supposed application of Democracy.
Globally – the widening of this veiled form of Government, becomes clearer – that Victor Orban – rules and prefers the style of a Dictatorship – which – he will and Hungary will – fall on one’s sword, – and be MASSIVE lossers.
“Freund said the justification for the new state of danger is “even more far-fetched” than the one introduced during the pandemic, and argued that it allows Orbán to “rule by decree” and suspend laws without parliamentary oversight.”
“”Hungary was already no longer free, now it is no longer a democracy,” liberal Belgian MEP, former prime minister Guy Verhofstadt tweeted.”

Brussels and Germany particularly are sore because they cannot control Hungary. The globalists are failing. Hungary is freer than most supposed democracies. There is free speech in Hungary, free speech is missing from the rest of EU. The citizens in Hungary are safe, there are no multitude of rape of women and girls by Muslim men. There was no terrorist attack or beheading in Hungary. Because the country is occupied by Hungarians, there are no “No Go Zones”. The hardworking taxpayers of the rest of the EU are forced to support great numbers of illegal and legal immigrant. Of those migrant entering the EU only about 50% are employed in non governmental make work projects.
Thousands of Dutch and German tourist flock to Hungary. Many even buy homes in Hungary. There are also thousand of western Europeans who wish to settle in the country. The question is Why?
Presently, many Europeans learned to appreciate conservatism, the only system in EU that makes sense. Hungary is a success, it does not need the EU.
@marievontheresa, you wrote: “Thousands of Dutch and German tourist flock to Hungary. Many even buy homes in Hungary. There are also thousand of western Europeans who wish to settle in the country. The question is Why?”. It is really simple as to why (something that you might not know since you live in Canada), tourism aside- because that is a red herring – property and land is cheap by comparison. Not rocket science although perhaps hard for you to grasp.

There are countries like Spain, Greece, Italy, Portugal that are very close to Hungarian living expenses.
The reason Western Europeans moving to Hungary and not the countries listed is safety and security. They do not want to leave in a country that accepts millions of illegal immigrants.
p.s. You could have made your point in an educated, intelligent way. Your reply included: “Not rocket science although perhaps hard for you to grasp.”
Perhaps you should keep your opinion to yourself.
There are many inexpensive places for Europeans to visit. Yet they flock to Hungary. The same people come year after year. The prices of hotels are on par with other EU countries and this does not stop the tourist. There is also the language barrier, Dutch, Germans and Austrians can communicate but the Hungarian language is unfathomable to most. The food is also tastier. The cities are clean. The most important fact is the safety of the visitors and these visitors appreciate the fact that they can wonder around during the night and live to tell the tale. It seems Hungary provides people that no other country can.
